Here we are – it’s the weekend again! Finally. After a frigid start to the week, it’s going to be near freezing this weekend![i] And what better way to take advantage of that nice weather than to get out of the city?
H’s family has a cabin on one of Minnesota’s 15,000 lakes.[ii] In the summer, this cabin is a destination for all long weekends, holidays, and any other time when the boat can be taken out onto the lake. I, personally, am more of a fan of the cabin in the winter – snowmobiles and cross country skis are more my speed, and I don’t have to worry about getting sea sick.
That’s the plan for the weekend! We’re going to the cabin to enjoy the balmy air and ride the snowmobiles. H has been doing research on snowmobile trails, and has a route for us that takes us across a bunch of different lakes with the final destination of a popular restaurant. Then we get to ride the snowmobiles back home.
Enjoy the warm weather, y’all!
[i] You know you’re from the Midwest when you’re excited it’s going to be near freezing. Tropical heat wave in January, I’m telling you!
[ii] Two disclosures. 1) This “cabin” is really a lake house, and 2) while Minnesota is known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, there are truly around 15,000. We have more shoreline than California, Florida, and Hawaii combined!
