“We Are Tonight” by Billy Currington

I distinctly remember a conversation I had with my FR back in October of 2009 about Billy Currington.  She wasn’t a fa – he didn’t do it for her, she said.  I have always had the tendency to agree, except for one song – “Must Be Doin’ Something Right,” from back in 2005.  And now this song.  I don’t know why I love this song so much, but I do.  I could listen to it over and over.

It’s a Friday night

It’s a small town girl

Everything is right

And we rule the world

You can’t tell me you’ve never had a night that felt like that.  Like it’s the best night you’ve ever had, like nothing could possibly be better than this.  That’s how this song makes me feel.  It makes me think of H, and sitting in a lawn chair next to a fire, and just being.

Toes in the grass with our hands up high

Dream as big as the midnight sky

So untamed and we’re so alive tonight

It makes me excited about the many, many Fridays I will have with him.  Because it always seems like, for every perfect night we spend with friends and family, there are many more waiting for us down the line.

Everything we want to be

We are, we are, we are tonight
