This is another one of those songs that I thought was annoying when I first heard it. “Boom clap? What’s a boom clap?” You know?
But I’ve heard it a lot now, and I’ve learned that it was on the soundtrack for The Fault in Our Stars, which is obviously one of my favorites. And I hear it and hear it, and it gets stuck in my head.
No silver or no gold
Could dress me up so good
You’re the glitter in the darkness of my world
Just tell me what to do
I’ll fall right into you
Going under, cast a spell, just say the word
I feel your love
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
You make me feel good
Come on to me, come on to me now
The lyrics aren’t the most original, nor the most complex. But they’re fun. This is a fun song to run to, as well. And, like any love song on the radio, it makes me think of H.
Gus and Hazel’s love story is something unique and beautiful. H and I aren’t in a book or anything, but I like to think our love is beautiful, too. Songs like this, from movie soundtracks, make me wonder what our love some would sound like, if someone was putting music to the story of our lives. Would it be like this? Boom clap? Something with simple lyrics and a good beat? Or something more complex, with lyrics that take a lot of effort to learn? Have you ever thought about this before?
Or is it just me?
