January 11, 2015
As you’ll read below, I started this blog as a way of accomplishing a pretty huge goal of mine – documenting an entire year of my life, and writing every single day. And I did it!
If you’re new to the blog, welcome! 2015 is going to be a little different. Not only am I a Writer in Residence for Ms. JD, but I got a new job as a technical writer. What does this mean?
It means I accomplished a much bigger goal. A career change. I switched fields entirely, and I did it successfully, and this little blog was a big part of that.
This year, I plan on focusing on three things:
- Writing a monthly post for Ms. JD.
- Continuing to blog about wedding planning, as I have truly been enjoying that experience.
- Writing more about the perspective of a young professional. This is why I’ve decided to start posting a professional outfit of the day. It’s why I’ve been blogging about Levo League, and why one of my role models is Lauren Conrad. I want to embrace this new life as a professional, as a person who is known for that and respected for that.
Don’t get me wrong, I hope to do some television recaps along the way, as well. And hopefully some running and training. I live in a world of dichotomies – nothing stays the same for long.

January 1, 2014
I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while now – trying to document a year in the life of little old me.
A whole year, you ask?
Well, yeah! A lot can happen in a single day, or week, or even month, but that’s not what I’m looking to document. I want to show growth. I want to show strength, and resilience, and love, and dedication. I want to show that no twenty-something has it all together, even when they’re happy. And I want to show that I can stick with something for a year, as promised.
This is me, in a nutshell. I’m a lab tech at a major research institution in a Midwest metro area. I will be turning 25 in early 2014, a quarter of a century old. I am enrolled in a Master’s program in technical writing, which I am completing while working full-time. I am planning to run 4 half marathons and at least one marathon in the year 2014 – watch out, world! I am living with my boyfriend (fiance, as of July 20, 2014!) of a year, a structural engineer whom I will refer to as H. We have a dog, a rambunctious English Setter named Ole who drives me crazy and I love to pieces. I love to write, and have written several (unpublished) novels. I hope that, one day, I’ll see my name on the cover of a book in a bookstore. I love crunchy leaves, mac and cheese, funfetti cake, and the mountains. And I’m going to keep a blog, writing every day for an entire year.
Comments are always welcome and appreciated, as is encouragement. I might need some help to keep this up!
To everyone who reads this blog – I love you.
